Surrender Process: How to Surrender your Weimaraner
Surrender Process If you are interested or need to surrender your dog please complete the Owner Surrender form to tell us more about your dog’s likes and dislikes. We will be able to re-home him/her if we have space either in our facility or a foster home. We are able to work through minor behavioral issues with most dogs but if your dog is dangerous to humans or has a history of repeated unprovoked bites we will not be able to re-home your dog and therefore can not take it. Please complete the form honestly. Failure to disclose a problem will only cause your dog to be in rescue longer and make it difficult for us to find a new home for him/her. We do our best at taking all of the dogs that need our help however that is an overwhelming task that is not easily defeated. We will put your dog on our website for adoption right away once you have given us proper pictures, description and contact information.
Once you have sent in your Owner Surrender form a BDRR member will call you with more questions about your dog and also to set up a time for your dog to come into rescue. If it is an emergency situation please call any of the contact numbers and explain your situation. We will do our best to accommodate each individual situation.
When you drop off your dog to BDRR you will need to bring your dogs current vet records and any other records or AKC papers he/she may have. Also please bring any left over food, collars and leashes, toys, dog beds, crates etc. An Owner Surrender release form will need to be signed and dated stating that you have surrendered your dog to BDRR to re-home at their discretion.
** A re-homing fee of $100 is asked when surrendering your dog to help off set some of the costs of food, board, vet care, etc.
We ask that before you complete the surrender form you try to make all the possible steps to be able to keep your dog, however we do understand sometimes things can be out of your control and re-homing your dog may be the only option.
If we can not take your dog we ask that you please do not take him/her to a high kill facility that does not give dogs the allotted time to find a forever home. We will do all we can to help you find a non kill shelter that will take the necessary measures in re-homing him/her.
We are a 501(c)3 Non-profit Organization
devoted to saving the lives of unwanted Weimaraners.
